Excel ROUND Function

ROUND changes the actual value. Formatting only changes how a number looks, which can make totals seem not to add up.

Syntax

=ROUND(number, num_digits)

• 2 rounds to 2 decimal places: 3.14159 → 3.14
• 0 rounds to a whole number
• -2 rounds to the nearest hundred: 1,849 → 1,800

Always up or always down

=ROUNDUP(A2,0)
=ROUNDDOWN(A2,0)

Round to a multiple

=MROUND(A2,5)
